Table of content

Dead or Alive is a slot machine from the Swedish developer NetEnt, which is played on five reels and nine fixed paylines and has no relation to the movie of the same name, but is thematically set in the Wild West. Matching symbols provide wins and the free spins of the slot have it all. The payout rate of the game is 96.8%, which is very good for online slots.

The game principle of Dead or Alive Slot

As mentioned at the beginning, the slot is played on a total of nine fixed paylines. In order to achieve a win here, at least three identical symbols must appear on one of the lines from left to right.

Of course, there are also special features in this NetEnt slot. For one, the wild symbol, which is modeled after a Wanted poster, substitutes for all other symbols, except for the scatter symbol. This is represented by two intersecting revolvers, and if it appears at least three times anywhere on the reels, it will trigger 12 free spins, in which all wins are doubled. More triggering scatter symbols do not generate more free spins, but they do provide a coin win.

During the free spins, all wild symbols that appear are sticky wilds. This means that they will stick to the position where they appeared for the remaining Free Spins. In this way, it is possible to turn one or more lines into Wilds. This free spins principle should certainly be familiar to many from slots like Roman Legion (Bally Wulff) or Flamenco Roses (Novoline). NetEnt, however, goes one better. If you manage to place at least one wild symbol on each of the five reels within the twelve free spins, you will receive another five free spins as a reward. The previously collected wild symbols remain for each additional spin. Admittedly, from experience this happens very rarely, but those who are lucky enough can set themselves up for enormous winnings.

Stakes, features and winnings

The number of paylines of the game is fixed at nine and cannot be changed. For this, as usual with NetEnt slots, the bet level and the coin value can be changed. At least one coin must be bet per payline with a minimum value of €0.01. This means that you can play from as little as €0.09 per spin. The maximum bet is found on level four with a coin value of €0.50. Converted into euros, this corresponds to a value of €18. This may not sound particularly enticing for high rollers, but it makes perfect sense when looking at the maximum winnings.

The best paying symbol is the scatter symbol. When it appears five times anywhere on the reels, it generates a win of 2,500 times the line bet. Of the traditional symbols, the wild symbol pays the best. If it covers a complete payline, a player can enjoy winning 1,500 times his line bet.

The sheriff’s star also pays well. It grants 1,000 times the line bet as a win if it is seen five times on a line. If the same happens with the gun belt, a player will still receive 750 times his line bet as winnings. The cowboy hat still awards 400 times, the boots 300 times and the filled shot glass 200 times the chosen bet per line as winnings.

Unfortunately, NetEnt has not renounced the inclusion of the classic playing card symbols. Thus, players who see five A can expect to win 100 times the line bet. With five K it is 75 times, five Q pay 50 times, five J 40 times and five 10 only 25 times.

Since in the free spins all wins are doubled and the probability of getting a full row of Wilds is a lot higher, different maximum wins apply here. In Free Spins, it is possible to get a win on a single line that is equal to 3,000 times the line bet.

Those who would like to try out Dead or Alive or other games from NetEnt for free in demo mode before playing with real money can do so at any time without registering at one of the online casinos mentioned. This allows you to get an insight into how the free spins work and the potential winnings without having to take any risks. A later upgrade to a real money player is of course possible.

Payment method

Online casinos, which offer their players slots like Dead or Alive, usually also offer a whole range of payment options. Among the best known, besides the credit card, are probably Skrill and bank transfer.

Conclusion

A classic game principle and a well-known free spins feature, packed into a NetEnt slot. The fact that this results in something that offers fun and excitement was actually to be expected. Personally, I have great fun playing the Dead or Alive slot machine and therefore recommend the slot without any restrictions. Even if it sometimes takes quite a long time until free spins appear, the winnings of these make up for the waiting time. If you don’t know the slot yet, you should definitely take a look at it and try your luck in one or two rounds. Even with smaller stakes, four-digit winnings are absolutely possible here.
